Wal-Mart plans smaller, high-end urban convenience stores

Wal-Mart Stores is working on a smaller-store concept, partly to counter the U.S. arrival of British grocer Tesco, sources report. The new locations are described as convenience stores located in urban areas that would sell groceries that appeal to a wealthy consumer base -- and have a footprint less than a tenth of the size of Wal-Mart's supercenters.
