Few commercial property markets hit as hard as Detroit

The U.S. recession hit Detroit's commercial real estate market before the area had recovered from the previous recession. There are few places in America where commercial property owners face more daunting challenges. "Our market's gone through an incredible paralysis," said Frederick Liesveld, managing director of Grubb & Ellis' Detroit office.
