Maryland connector remains on schedule

The first sections of Maryland's 18.8-mile Intercounty Connector in the Washington suburbs are on schedule to open by the fall of 2010, at a construction cost of about $1.5 million per day. The project is under heightened scrutiny from environmentalists and will include 17-foot-high passageways that allow deer and other animals to pass under the highway.
