Work starts on first Texas public-private toll road

Construction started several weeks ago on the first public-private toll road in Texas. The $1.35 billion road is being built and financed by a consortium headed by Spanish toll road operator Cintra and San Antonio-based Zachry Construction. Workers have already dug holes for columns that will support an interchange, and crews are also working on bridges that will span a creek.
