FEMA official fears for insurers' involvement in NFIP

Edward Connor, an official with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, told insurance regulators at an industry meeting that Congress' failure to pass a long-term reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program could adversely affect carriers' participation in the program. The NFIP will expire Sept. 30 and could create more uncertainty for insurers, Connor said. "It is a significant concern to us," he added.
