Internet growth will spur more underseas cable networks

An accelerating demand for Internet access and broadband service will likely propel more underseas cable systems, with about 15 cables going live each year from last year to next year, according to industry watchers. TeleGeography estimates Internet demand will increase about 40% each year through 2015, and the trans-Atlantic fiber-optic cables linking the U.S. to Europe will exhaust their capacity in five to seven years.
