REITs could benefit if GSEs are dismantled

REITs are likely to benefit if Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are privatized or otherwise dismantled, according to this article. If the GSEs disappeared, owners of small apartment buildings would find it difficult to obtain loans for refinancing and could be forced to sell. Apartment REITs would be among the natural buyers in such a scenario.
