Students with autism face down social struggles in college

More students with autism are attending college, which can present them with social difficulties beyond those of a typical college student. Students with autism often have difficulties approaching professors to explain their special needs, which is why one college accessibility official recommends e-mailing instructors. "That can be helpful because they get specific information and they can go back and read it again. It can also be easier for them to compose an email than to speak face to face," said Utah Valley University's Edward Martinelli.
