IRS seeks to get a handle on tip income

A new voluntary program called the Attributed Tip Income Program will allow food and beverage establishments to save time on paperwork, by sending the IRS estimated tip income, based on their overall sales. The IRS hopes to increase its knowledge of unreported tips through the program, and, in turn, will not audit the participating restaurant or its employees for tip income.
