Denver schools, union at odds over district's merit-pay proposal

Denver schools' pay-for-performance plan is often held up as a national model, but after three years in operation, the district's lauded program is in turmoil. Some teachers are holding sick-outs and are publicly denouncing a proposed contract change that would boost rewards for newer educators and those that take on hard-to-fill jobs but does not offer a bump in pay for veteran educators.
