District ordered to pay tuition, travel for former student with autism

A California district with an annual budget of $3.7 million must pay $23,000 a month in private tuition for a boy with autism plus travel for the boy and his family to and from a Kansas residential facility, a judge has ruled. Sean Steingruber, 14, who has severe autism, was not given specially trained aides nor helped to "develop annual academic and functional goals," the judge ruled.
