"Carry trade" strategy starts making comeback

The investment strategy known as the "carry trade" flourished during boom years but nearly disappeared during the financial crisis, as major currency swings resulted in significant losses. Investors are beginning to return to the strategy as markets calm and some central banks indicate increases to their interest rates. "It's starting to come back," said Stephen Jen of BlueGold Capital Management in London. "Investors are starting to think about rate hikes, which makes such trades more relevant and attractive."
