NTSB wants new safety measures for jetliner flap settings

The National Transportation Safety Board has released recommendations to help guarantee accuracy in the placement of movable wing panels used on most jetliners. The nonbinding recommendations come after U.S. airline accident investigators urged regulators to look more closely at the issue, after malfunctioning wing panels caused a Spanish jetliner to crash one year ago, killing 154 people.
