Video games are gaining credibility as a medical intervention to improve mental health, working under the idea that the games can help distract and calm people suffering from everyday worries and stress or even depression. Researchers who studied the video game "Bejeweled" for manufacturer PopCap Games found players displayed improved mood and heart rhythms compared with people who didn't play.
