Gene signature may help identify people at risk for active TB

U.K. scientists have discovered a "genetic signature" in the blood of patients with active tuberculosis and found that it also was present in about 10% of people with latent TB infections. They said the finding could lead to the development of a gene signature-based blood test that can help identify who among those with latent TB will develop the active form of the disease.
