Panel proposes ambitious plan to rebuild Haiti's schools

A Haitian presidential education commission has proposed an ambitious, two-year plan to fix the island nation's broken schooling system that was further devastated by January's earthquake. Officials say they hope to reduce class sizes, recruit and train effective teachers, increase salaries and improve accountability. The earthquake destroyed or damaged 1,300 schools in a nation where 2.5 million people are illiterate.
