Report shows lower-than-expected infection rates in N.H. hospitals

The number of hospital infections among New Hampshire patients being treated for another condition was 26% lower than expected last year based on national data from 2006 to 2008, a report found. But despite the lower rates, health officials said hospitals still need to work to improve infection prevention through vaccinations, frequent hand-washing and other practices.
