Veterinarians see spike in Lyme disease cases in New York area pets

The number of pets diagnosed with Lyme disease in Central New York has significantly increased, with one area veterinary practice reporting 210 cats and dogs tested positive for the disease this year. Area veterinarians say the rise in Lyme disease cases in pets serves as a red flag in detecting deer ticks in people.
