Food costs lead increase in producer prices

Producer prices, a measure of the cost of goods and materials purchased by manufacturers and wholesalers, increased 0.2% last month, after dropping 0.4% in June, the Labor Department reported. Producer prices for food gained 0.6%, led by higher prices for veal, beef and fruit, though economists said lower oil prices will ease inflationary pressure.
