Oregon waste facility plans to install green roof

More than half of a 4,600-square-foot roof will be covered with plants at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility at the Metro Central Transfer Station in Portland, Ore., thanks to a city grant. The facility's living roof would help reduce stormwater runoff and provide insulation for the building. The installation of the eco-roof is slated to take two months.
