Poll: Tammy Baldwin leads Wisconsin Dems in 2012 Senate contest

Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., is the early favorite to win the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Herb Kohl, according to a new statewide poll. Former senator from Wisconsin Russ Feingold announced he would not run for any political office in 2012. Because she could become the first openly LGBT U.S. senator, Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund President and CEO Chuck Wolfe says Baldwin's campaign would become a top priority for the group.
