Why brands should put Twitter first

Twitter users have far more clout than Facebook or LinkedIn users when it comes to influencing consumer perceptions of a brand, a study shows, and marketers should adjust accordingly, argues Sherilynn Macale. Regular Twitter users tend to be avid social media enthusiasts who also carry their messages to blogs, news sites, coupon forums, video sites and product-review sites, so good or bad Twitter buzz tends to spread across the broader Web, an Exact Target study finds. "Twitter users are an entirely different breed of consumers and need to be treated as such if a brand hopes to succeed," Macale writes.
