China's Baidu steps up mobile game with acquisition

Baidu's acquisition of 91 Wireless, an operator of mobile application stores, should make the Chinese Internet giant more competitive with its rivals Alibaba and Tencent, which previously added mobile capabilities, Eric Pfanner writes. The move is also seen to be promising as it may cut down on app piracy through China's many independent app stores, Pfanner writes.
