Texas district to tie evaluations to teachers' pay

The Somerset Independent School District in Texas will abandon the teacher-evaluation model used in most other districts in the state in favor of a model that ties teachers' performance to their pay. Teachers' evaluations will be based on students' test scores as well as classroom observations conducted by administrators and fellow teachers. The format also does away with the traditional teachers' pay scale.
