Verizon CFO talks VoLTE timing, sees lower phone subsidies

Verizon Wireless expects to offer a voice-over-LTE network in 2014. "As you get to the end of 2014, we will have our first LTE-only handset. When that happens, I then take the CDMA chip out of the handset, and my subsidy will decrease," Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo reportedly told an investor conference last week. Separately, Verizon said Friday that it will begin offering HTC's One flagship phone on Aug. 22 at a $200 price tag following its release five months ago on AT&T, T-Mobile US and Sprint.
