Psychiatrists are looking into whether omega-3 fatty acids can ward off depression, bipolar disease, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, alcoholism and Alzheimer's disease. The nutrient is present in fish, flaxseed, canola oil, nuts and avocados. Results from population studies and clinical trials show omega-3 has various health benefits.
