Opinion: NASA should speed up retirement of shuttle

Congress and the White House should closely examine how long the space shuttle should remain in service, according to an opinion piece in The New York Times. Safety problems outlined in a minority report by members of a NASA panel suggest NASA should retire the fleet soon. The report also said NASA's leadership did not set high standards or hold staff accountable.
