Airports Council blasts FAA slot auction at Newark:

The Airports Council International-North America came out Monday against a plan by the FAA to auction a slot at Newark Liberty Airport. "Instead of pursuing its misconceived 'slot auction' proposal, the FAA should work collaboratively with the Port Authority and the air carriers to develop and implement a reasonable and effective program of congestion management," said Greg Principato, president of ACI-NA. The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has said it will refuse to service any aircraft that received its slot through an FAA auction.
