Shrinkage of U.S. money supply causes further concern

With the U.S. money supply seeing its most acute contraction in modern history, there is a more heightened risk than ever of a severe economic slowdown. This comes on top of the current credit crisis and at a time when overall debt burden in the U.S. economy is at record levels. The acuteness of the drop, versus the absolute level, is what monetarists find most disturbing.
