Wholesale prices rise to highest level in nearly three decades

According to the Producer Price Index, wholesale prices have jumped 9.8% since July 2007. The percentage increase is the fastest since 1981 and is a clear sign of inflation. Producer prices have risen largely because of higher energy costs, but prices do not reflect the recent drop in crude oil.
