Groups sue Chevron Phillips, alleging pollution violations at plant

The Sierra Club and Environment Texas are suing Chevron Phillips Chemical, claiming the petrochemical joint venture has repeatedly exceeded pollution limits set by the Clean Air Act at its plant in Cedar Bayou, Texas. The groups say state regulators have failed to enforce the pollution limits and that thousands of violations have occurred during malfunctions in the past five years. A Chevron Phillips spokesman says the company has reduced pollution at the plant.
