Houston online school expands

The Houston school district's virtual school is expected to instruct 1,000 students in third through eighth grade this year. The program began in December with 100 students and features certified teachers trained for online instruction. Families receive textbooks, computers, science equipment, and art and physical education supplies. About one-third of students were formerly home-schooled by parents.
