Startup links companies to programmers

Taking a cue from tech giants such as Facebook and Apple, companies in a range of industries are enlisting outside help to improve their software. Mashery, a 3-year-old business, links such companies -- and their software code -- with programmers who can help. "Most companies don't have as their core competence running a Web site or developing user experience," says Mashery founder Oren Michels.
