Work starts on gateway terminal for national rail network

CSX Corp. has started work on what will become the foundation of an extensive network of intermodal freight facilities that will link the Mid-Atlantic to the Midwest. The Northwest Ohio Intermodal Terminal in North Baltimore, Ohio, is considered the cornerstone of the National Gateway project and is expected to be completed by 2011. The public-private project will cost a total of $840 million, and CSX will pay $300 million of that.
