Facebook Places puts privacy debate back on the map

Facebook's location offering drew swift complaints from digital-privacy advocates. ACLU analysts say the network had "failed to build in ... important privacy safeguards." Of particular concern, the ACLU says, is a feature that lets users check their friends in without their explicit permission. "In the world of Facebook Places, 'no' is unfortunately not an option," one analyst writes.
