La. levees are still not ready to provide 100-year storm protection

Five years after Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast, the Army Corps of Engineers has yet to identify the levees along the Mississippi River in Louisiana that should be raised to protect coastal areas from a 100-year storm surge. The federal agency is using advanced computer modeling to determine which levee sections need to be upgraded.
