U.S. home insurers pay out more on dog-bite claims

U.S. home insurers spent 6.4% more on dog-bite claims last year than they did in 2008, with payouts totaling $412 million, Bloomberg reports. Dog-bite claims comprise about one-third of liability claims under homeowner policies, and treatment costs for dog-bite victims have risen steadily since 2003, along with U.S. health care costs.
