ZTE aims to extend its U.S. market reach with the Salute phone

China-based ZTE has partnered with Verizon Wireless to offer the Salute phone, an entry-level device that will sell for about $20. The alliance with Verizon is ZTE's first with a top-tier U.S. carrier; it previously made phones for MetroPCS.
