Rubble from sections of a bridge that were destroyed in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina will be used to build a device to reduce erosion of the eastern New Orleans landbridge. Remnants from the destroyed sections of the Interstate 10 Twin Spans will be used to fill metal rebar "mattresses" that will be placed along a 7.8-mile stretch of shoreline along Lake Borgne to cut down on erosion.
