Keystone pipeline project could create up to 20,000 construction jobs

The oil and natural gas industry and organized labor have joined forces to promote the potential economic benefits of TransCanada's proposed Keystone XL pipeline. "With the U.S. economy still struggling, nothing is more important than jobs, and construction of the pipeline would mean massive numbers of them," said Cindy Schild, the American Petroleum Institute's refining-issues manager. The project, which is awaiting the U.S. government's approval, could generate about 20,000 construction jobs, according to one analysis.
