Calif. city's intermodal transit center has sustainable features

An intermodal transit facility in Tahoe City, Calif., features a roof that gathers snow for rainwater harvesting and solar cells for energy conservation. The building, designed by WRNS Studio, also uses natural ventilation and illumination. The Tahoe City Transit Center received the California Department of Transportation's 2013 Excellence in Transportation Award for Intermodal Transportation.
