Confusion may inhibit small-business exporting

The government wants to boost exporting activity among small businesses, but many small firms say they don't know how to begin, according to a study from the National Small Business Association. Many agencies are involved with the exporting process, which can cause problems for small-business owners, said House Small Business Committee Chairman Rep. Sam Graves, R-Mo. "This can paint a very confusing and intimidating picture for small companies, who often don't have designated export officials or trade representatives on staff to navigate the process for their businesses," he said.
