Interventions part of turnaround plans in Md. district

Prince George's County, Md., is expected this week to announce County Executive Rushern L. Baker III's "Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative" for education that is intended to turn around struggling schools. Under the pilot program, schools will implement full-day prekindergarten, expand after-school programs, launch interventions for dropouts and chronically absent students, offer a "summer bridge program" for eighth-graders entering high school, along with other initiatives.
