Mo. court sides with deaf woman dismissed from nursing school

In a Missouri lawsuit, a deaf woman was awarded $50,000 after a jury said Cox College of Nursing should have made accommodations to allow her to finish her education. Jessica Wells was dismissed after two semesters, and she sued under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Cox interim President Dr. Lance Ratcliff said nurses are required to make judgments based on sounds and using an interpreter would be unsafe for patients.
