Pilot protects Ore. forests from smoldering wildfires

Ron Vogt learned to fly in the Marine Corps and pilots both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. Now, 37 years later, he is a contract pilot for the Oregon Department of Forestry, scanning forests for smoldering wildfires. More than $60 million has already been spent fighting fires in southwest Oregon this summer. If fires are caught early, it's easier to put them out.
