Regulatory commitment helps propel Brazilian smart grid

Despite its late entry into the market, Brazil is moving full speed ahead with Phase 1 of a nationwide smart grid effort thanks in part to a regulatory regime that promotes more sustainable energy delivery and usage. Brazil's Electricity Regulatory Agency has been working for the past five years on research in an effort to emulate the best practices of leading smart grid nations and has instituted a series of resolutions designed to spur smart meter deployment.
