Thousands of U.S. quickservice workers may strike on Aug. 29

The organizers of smaller city walkouts at quickservice chains are calling for a national strike on Aug. 29 in an ongoing push to raise minimum hourly pay to $15 per hour. Thousands of workers in at least 35 cities have committed to the strike so far, organizers say, and retail workers from stores including Macy's, Dollar Tree and Sears are expected to join them.
