U2opia's social media app reaches 10 million without smartphones

Indian company U2opia has connected 10 million people without smartphones to social media through its "unstructured supplementary service data" application, Mahesh Sharma writes. U2opia began working with Facebook two years ago to develop that app that has become popular over the past year. "We looked at the lowest common denominator and realized there was a massively untapped potential base for working with poor infrastructure," co-founder Sumesh Menon says.
