U.S. stays the course with Egyptian ties

Despite the Egyptian military's toppling of President Mohamed Morsi and its killing of civilian protestors, the U.S. appears unlikely to make major changes in its relationship with the country. Both statements by the Pentagon and President Barack Obama on the matter have been cautious, and despite the U.S. cancellation of joint military exercises in Egypt, routine defense sales from the U.S. to Egypt go forward.
