Cholesterol drug lowers heart risk in diabetes patients

Fenofibrate therapy was associated with a 30% reduced odds of adverse cardiovascular events in at-risk women with type 2 diabetes, data indicated. The cholesterol-lowering drug also led to a 24% decline in heart risk in men with diabetes, researchers wrote in Diabetologia.
